David Demann

Developer of the AEMD method

David Démann has developed and perfected an original method for allowing his patients to overcome emotional and instinctual obstacles, in order to break down emotional masks. From posture to imposture, we are often the best at fooling ourselves. Through use of innovative verbal tools, the Démann method is centred around finding the match between our desires and our unconscious behaviours. Once we have unmasked our false pretences, this opens a psychic field where the patient has the freedom to reconnect with himself and alter his behaviour.

For this, the practitioner uses a variety of tools and themes, as well as verbal and metaphorical models, which allow the patient to push reflection and perception beyond the agreed discourses and to transfer them very quickly into new behaviours.

With the Démann Method, feeling

becomes a tool for moving

By learning to break down the emotions that come to the surface in his words, the patient can identify his inner wounds. The role of the practitioner is to accompany this « swaying » between the inner movement created by emotion, and the external movement that translates into behaviour. Once the emotional mechanics have been decrypted, the patient can consciously modulate the neurotic systems that hinder him.

Everything is based on observation — it is emotion, rather than comprehension, that creates an internal revelation forward. This then translates into an external movement: behaviour.

This impulse is decisive for regaining one’s emotional independence and getting better. Hence the fundamentals of my method, which is addressed to people who have experienced traumas, situations that can cause a mental block, or imbalanced patterns.

Putting these traumas behind them can be difficult. Some, even after going through « classical » analyses, feel embarrassed, hindered, or even blocked. Others develop addictions, phobias or somatisations, amongst others. The method is very effective for anyone who is not coping well with their neuroses, as it is neither medical, psychiatric nor esoteric.

It is an analytical method based on words that is built on an open and sustained dialogue, which the practitioner and the patient are both involved in through sessions lasting about an hour and a half.

Developed since the beginning of the 90s, the Démann Method Emo-behavioural Analysis was born in 2000. The original AEMD association was born in Switzerland in 2010 then became a foundation in 2017 and the French AEMD association (under the French 1901 Law on non-profit organisations) was created in January 2016. Their mission is to support people, to make the Démann Method Emo-behavioural Analysis known and to train new practitioners.

A few statistics:

  • Over 20 years of perspective
  • More than 1000 patients successfully treated
  • 25 sessions on average per patient
